ABOUT MY WORK
I always describe myself as going through a few re-incarnations within this lifetime.
Amongst other things, I have been a care/education professional working with adults with learning disabilities, a facilitator in designing and running workshops on the Management of Aggression, Stress Management and Assertiveness.
Other interests have been in Natural Nutrition, Life Coaching and NLP (Neuro Linguistic Programing). I was also a physical therapist for many years having my own clinics in London, Germany, Austria and America working with individuals as well and groups.
After closing down a successful business in the UK after 20 years, I then went on to purchase a business in America and lived there for 4 years before having to return to the UK. I then was accepted as a VSO volunteer and had the honour and pleasure of working in Vietnam supporting and training local companies in developing services for people with disabilities.
And yes, if you are wondering, there is a common theme that runs through most of my career and life choices. I have a passion for learning and developing my own skills and then in sharing that knowledge that lights me up with others. For most of my life that has been in education, health, healing, well-being aspects of life.
I am lucky to enjoy such a rich array of experiences with very few short periods where work has been less than enjoyable. I love working with people, I love technology (when it works!) and I love the satisfaction that what I am doing has a purpose.
Although meditation has been central to my personal life for many decades, I showed little interest in Mindfulness until, that is, I started seriously looking at it.
I am now passionate to share what I have learnt and experienced with others through Mindfulness with other people. I qualified with the Mindful Academy as an Accredited Mindfulness Meditation (MBSR) Teacher in 2016 and established Mindful Life Changes as a sole trader in the same year.
Currently live in Portsmouth with my life partner. I love to walk, read, write, and travel. I describe myself as eating for health rather than subscribe to a label. The only thing that I do not eat is meat from any animal. I love a glass of wine with dinner, enjoy gardening and explore new thoughts, ways of being and ways of living.
I had my own business in the UK for 20 years before moving to Florida, USA to establish a new business and new life. World economics and bad luck cut that far too short. Back in the UK, I enrolled as a VSO volunteer.
After the training period, I was assigned to work in Vietnam as an advisor for Disability Inclusivity. I fell head over heels in love with the work, the country and the people and was there for 2.5 years. I regularly visit both countries.
I was able to put a great deal of my own training and experiences of healing to practical use back in 1999 when I was diagnosed with aggressive Lymphoma (cancer of the Lymphatic system). Choosing to refuse all medical intervention, I devised and implemented my own healing plan. It took me 6 month to get into remission and a year to be clear and healthy with all my energy back. I have been blessed with continued good health since that time.
I used many techniques as part of my healing process including meditation which I saw as a core aspect of the whole plan.
